Earn PDUs & SEUs

Professional Development Units (PDUs) and Scrum Education Units (SEUs) are ways of measuring and tracking continuing education in order to renew a certification. Learn about how to earn PDUs and SEUs and how to track them below.

Earn PDUs: Project Management Institute

In order to renew a certification earned through Project Management Institute (PMI), a certain number of PDUs need to be earned every 3 years.  The number of PDUs needed vary depending on the type(s) of certification you have.

You can earn PDUs through many different activities as long as they can be included in either Education or Giving Back. While some activities completed through the Project Management website will automatically be added to your earned PDUs, others – such as training through Rocket Nine Solutions, will need to be added manually.

PDU Submission

1 hour of training contact = 1 PDU

Rocket Nine is not a Registered Education Provider (REP) for Project Management Institute®, however we are a non-REP third-party provider. To record PDU hours you can do the following:

1. Log in to PMI

2. Click on the PDU’s Tab -> Report PDUs

3. Type the name “Rocket Nine Solutions” and the trainer name into the provider field

a. Do NOT select any of the REP providers that may pop up

4. Under Activities, simply list the training activity, such as “Certified Agile Leadership Course” or “Certified ScrumMaster course”.

a. Do NOT select from activities that pop-up on the list or the page will try and pre-populate the rest of the form with information from a different provider.

If you have any questions about renewal requirements, or PDU categories, you can find more information here.

Earn SEUs: Scrum Alliance

In order to renew a certification earned through Scrum Alliance (SA), a certain number of SEUs need to be earned every 2 years.  The number of SEUs needed vary depending on the type(s) of certification you have.

Certificants can earn their SEUs in four different categories: Events, Learning, Volunteering, and Other (for activities that qualify, but don’t fit the previous categories). While some activities completed through the Scrum Alliance website will automatically be added to your earned SEUs, others – such as training through Rocket Nine Solutions, will need to be added manually.

SEU Submission

1 hour of training contact = 1 SEU

Rocket Nine is a REP for Scrum Alliance, so you submit for SEU’s by:

1. Log in to Scrum Alliance

2. Hover over “Hello, {Your Name}” in the upper right corner of the screen

3. Click “Manage SEUs” (the calculator icon)
