The credential
CSD is the foundational certification in the Scrum Alliance developer track. Attend both days, participate, and pass a classroom-based evaluation — no written exam.
What you'll learn
Five core practices, worked hands-on in pairs and small groups — plus the full Scrum experience end to end, so the practices land inside a real sprint rhythm, not in isolation.

Questions
No written exam. Scrum Alliance requires a CSD assessment, and Paul's course design uses a classroom-based evaluation instead — attend both days, participate, and complete the hands-on work, and you'll receive your CSD credential.
This training is built for anyone involved in creating your software solutions — not developers exclusively. That said, the hands-on exercises involve real code, so it's most valuable for people who write or directly work with code day to day.
Certified ScrumMaster is about the people side — facilitating a team and helping it continuously improve. CSD is the technical side — the engineering practices, like TDD and continuous integration, that let a team actually deliver what Scrum asks of it. Many people eventually hold both.
CSD is the entry point to the Scrum Alliance developer track. Once you've worked as a Certified Scrum Developer for 12 months, you're eligible for Advanced CSD; after 12 more months holding that, you're eligible for CSP-Developer. See "The developer track" below for how the three fit together.

Scrum Alliance built the developer track to reward time in the role, not just time in a classroom. CSD gets you started; Advanced CSD and CSP-Developer are earned as your experience grows.
