AI Backlog & User Story Masterclass

Write better user stories.
Slash refinement time.

Vague requirements kill sprint velocity. This course teaches Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Agile teams how to use generative AI prompt frameworks to generate razor-sharp user stories, robust acceptance criteria, and clear test cases in minutes instead of hours — with ready-to-use templates that pressure-test assumptions and spot missing requirements before they hit sprint planning.

What you'll learn

From messy input to sprint-ready backlog

Eight AI-powered techniques covering the full arc — from raw customer feedback and legacy specs to prioritized, INVEST-compliant stories developers can build from.

Module 01

Persona-driven prompting

Craft custom prompts that synthesize messy customer feedback into structured epics, instead of generic AI output that still needs a rewrite.

Module 02

Customer research synthesis

Use AI to distill hundreds of customer support tickets and interviews into prioritized backlog themes you can actually act on.

Module 03

Synthesizing complex specs

Transform dense legacy documentation and stakeholder PDFs into clear, structured Agile stories — no more re-reading the same 40-page doc.

Module 04

Assumption mapping with AI

Identify the high-risk product assumptions hiding in a feature request and generate prompt-driven experiment cards to test them.

Module 05

Value-based prioritization

Leverage AI models to evaluate cost-of-delay and prioritize feature backlogs by what actually moves the needle.

Module 06

Intelligent story splitting

Apply AI heuristics to split complex features into vertical, INVEST-compliant user stories your team can size and commit to.

Module 07

Automated acceptance criteria

Use AI to draft comprehensive Given-When-Then (BDD) scenarios that eliminate developer ambiguity before the story ever hits a sprint.

Module 08

Refinement session acceleration

Walk into refinement with stories already pressure-tested — reduce meeting time while dramatically increasing developer clarity.

Who it's for

Anyone who owns the backlog

If you write, refine, or have to work from user stories, this gives you a faster way to get them right the first time.

Product Owners

Accountable for a backlog that's actually ready before sprint planning starts, not discovered mid-sprint.

Product Managers

Turning strategy and customer research into a backlog that reflects what actually matters, not just what's loudest.

Technical Product Managers

Bridging dense technical specs and stakeholder documentation into stories a delivery team can actually pick up.

Business Analysts

Translating legacy documentation and stakeholder requirements into clear, structured Agile stories.

Scrum Masters

Watching refinement run long every sprint and looking for a way to get the team to sprint planning faster.

Lead Developers

Tired of asking clarifying questions mid-sprint because the acceptance criteria left too much unsaid.

Straight answer on prerequisites: there are none. This course is built for anyone who writes, refines, or works from user stories — no AI experience or technical background required.

Your seat

What $175 gets you

One afternoon, a sprint-ready backlog, and a standing invitation to keep building it with us.

This course is eligible for two Scrum Education Units and two PMI Professional Development Units toward your existing certification renewals — awarded for attendance and participation, no exam required.

  • Prompt frameworks & templates

Leave with the same persona-driven prompts, BDD acceptance-criteria templates, and story-splitting heuristics Scott uses inside real backlog refinement engagements.

  • A sprint-ready backlog

Walk out with acceptance criteria and test cases written against stories from your own backlog, built live in the session.

  • Alumni meetings

Keep coming back. Bring the backlog you're actually stuck refining and work it through with Scott and other practitioners.

Founder, Rocket Nine Solutions · Certified Scrum Trainer & Certified Enterprise Coach

Scott has spent 20 years in the industry as a developer, manager, project manager, and Scrum Master — which means he's been on every side of a user story: writing it, building from it, and untangling it when the acceptance criteria left too much unsaid.

He's tailored agile training for hundreds of organizations, from NASA to Kaiser Permanente, and trained more than 3,000 Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and engineers. The pattern he sees everywhere: sprints rarely fail in the sprint. They fail in refinement, when vague stories slip through.

He built this course around the prompt frameworks he uses to close that gap — faster story splitting, sharper acceptance criteria, and backlogs that are actually ready before sprint planning starts.

Questions

Before you register

What makes AI-generated user stories actually better?

Generic AI prompts produce generic stories — vague, missing edge cases, and still ambiguous to developers. This course teaches persona-driven, framework-specific prompts that force the AI to surface missing requirements, structure Given-When-Then acceptance criteria, and split features into vertical, INVEST-compliant stories — the rigor a strong Product Owner applies by hand, in a fraction of the time.

What's a backlog refinement prompt framework?

A repeatable set of prompts that takes you from raw input — customer tickets, legacy specs, stakeholder notes — through structured epics, acceptance criteria, and prioritized, developer-ready stories. Building your own working set of these frameworks is one of the deliverables of the session.

Do I need a technical background?

No. There are no prerequisites. The frameworks work whether you're writing your first user story or your thousandth — you don't need a technical background or prior AI experience.

Is there a certification or badge?

No formal credential is issued — this is an original Rocket Nine Solutions course, not a Scrum Alliance or PMI certification. It is eligible for 2 SEUs and 2 PDUs toward your existing certification renewals, awarded for attendance and participation with no exam.

How is the session structured?

One 2-hour live virtual session, moving from raw input synthesis through prioritization, story splitting, and acceptance criteria. It's interactive by design, so plan on cameras on and bring real material from your own backlog to work with.

Can you run this privately for my organization?

Yes, and for this course it's often the stronger choice — a private session lets your whole product team standardize on the same prompt frameworks and story-writing bar, instead of a few people learning it separately. Email hello@rocketninesolutions.com and we'll put together a plan.
